Colombia beats Costa Rica and Canada beats Uzbekistan in friendlies

The Colombian National Team won 3-1 against Costa Rica and Canada 2-0 against Uzbekistan in friendly matches in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

Colombia beats Costa Rica and Canada beats Uzbekistan in friendlies

On the night of November 16, two friendly matches were played in preparation for the 2026 World Cup.

Colombia 3-1 Costa Rica The Colombian National Team defeated Costa Rica 3-1 in a match played in New Jersey. Colombia took the lead with a goal from Luis Díaz in the 10th minute, and the same player assisted Miguel Ángel Borja to make it 2-0 in the 23rd minute. The Ticos scored with a goal from Anthony Contreras in the 38th minute. Already in the second half, at 81 minutes, Juan David Ruiz scored the goal to make it 3-1. Luis Díaz, a Liverpool player, started and played the entire game. Defenders Johan Lucumí (Bologna) and Yerry Mina (Cagliari) also started, but the latter was substituted in the 74th minute.

Canada 2-0 Uzbekistan In another friendly match, the local Canadian team defeated Uzbekistan 2-0 in a match played in Toronto. The Canadians took the lead in the 57th minute with a goal from their midfielder Samuel Osorio, who came on as a substitute. Already in stoppage time, at 90+3, Canadian striker of Nigerian origin David Oluwaseun Adedapo Edwards Nelson scored the second goal for the Canadians. Juventus' Canadian forward Davind Otasowie started this match and played 70 minutes.
