What does success mean for Liverpool in 2026-27 under Iraola?

Liverpool fans have been asked what a successful season under new manager Andoni Iraola, who has a verbal agreement to succeed Arne Slot, would mean to them. David: "For me, a successful season would be qualifying for the Champions League, showing more attractive football and players who really give themselves to the club. I would prefer that to a series of boring 1-0 wins that would only add a point or two."

Mike: "Success this season would mean playing with style, heart and passion again. Even though the 2024-25 season was winning, Liverpool became boring. The 2025-26 campaign was forgettable, lacking intensity and faith in the crest. The team is going through a change, but competing in the league, making Anfield a fortress and winning a trophy is essential. If the new style is aggressive, passionate and played with faith, the support of the fans will help them. will push even more."

Elliot: "It will be refreshing to see an attacking, pressing style of football again. I think success will be a top three finish, a good run in the Champions League and maybe reaching the final of a tournament. I'll just be happy to see an improvement on a disastrous campaign."

Ben: "Consistently better football would represent progress over the last 18 months, with the hope that Champions League qualification will come as a result of that."

Jim: "Actually, although it pains me to say it, I think a good cup run and qualification for the Champions League next year will probably be a successful season. That, and the team going back to playing football instead of what we saw this season. I think sorting out the defense will be the biggest challenge, which could hinder any proposed success."

John: "Any improvement on fifth place in 2026-27 would be a success. And if Iraola can do it with the style of football we were used to under Jurgen Klopp, we will feel like we are getting our identity back. I'm excited to see what he can do for us and for the younger players in the team. I know he only signed for two years, but I think that's a trial period and that the real contract will come in 2028 when he has a real chance to build a legacy at Liverpool. I would love to see him in charge for 10 years. Liverpool benefits from that kind of continuity."

Tony: "Attractive, offensive, aggressive football, with a place in the top four, an appearance in the quarterfinals or semi-finals of the Champions League and winning a national trophy. That would be a great first season. But the minimum required is to be in the top four of the Premier League, play vibrant football and still have a chance for the title in May.
