I can hardly put my feelings into words right now. Luckily, I have this speech prepared. First of all, I want to thank once again France Football and the organizers of the Ballon d'Or for putting together such a wonderful event. That it took place in London makes it even more special for me, and it feels like a good omen. So thank you all very much! Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I can imagine how difficult it was this year to make the choices. Because there are so many outstanding players to choose from, including some of my teammates and world-class stars who are present in this room tonight. So, I want to say it again, thank you for choosing me. I want to congratulate those who won and those who were nominated, because being nominated is already a huge achievement. It shows that your hard work and determination pay off and that you can achieve great things. I want to thank my teammates at Bayern Munich, some of whom are here tonight, like Michael Olise, Dayot Upamecano, Luis Diaz, and Lennart Karl. If it weren't for you and for the rest of the team, I wouldn't be here receiving this award. You push me every day. The way we compete against each other in training sessions, like when I go up against Dayot, it makes me a better player. It makes me want to be the best version of myself. So thank you very much! I want to send a message to my coach, Vincent Kompany. I know you are either at home or still at the hospital. I hope you recover soon. I hope this award gives you some strength. I want to thank Vincent and the whole coaching staff. The way you train us, the way you motivate us, it’s all about your hard work that I am receiving this award tonight. Since you all started coaching me, I have improved in every aspect, both as a player and as a person and as a leader. It’s all thanks to you. I want to thank the CEO of Bayern, Jan-Christian Dreesen, the President, Herbert Hainer, and all the board members. I know some of you are not here tonight, but I am extremely proud to represent Bayern Munich. It’s a real honor to be able to bring this award to Bayern. I want to thank all my teammates in the national team. We had a very special year. It wasn’t a perfect year, but we had a lot of memorable moments. We are a united group. We sweat together in training, we fight for each other in the matches, and we bond off the pitch as well, like during the World Cup 2026. It’s a real honor for me to be the captain of this team. I am very proud, and I am sure this award is for all of us. I want to congratulate my coach at the national team, Gareth Southgate, and the whole coaching staff. The way you lead us and the way you set the standards for us is just amazing. It’s an honor for me to wear the national team jersey and to be represented by the coaching staff. I think I saw the President of the FA, Debbie Hewitt, in the room. Thank you, Debbie, for everything you do for us, and thank you to all the staff at the FA. It’s a real honor to be the captain of the national team. I want to thank Tottenham Hotspur. There’s no way I would be here receiving this award tonight if it weren’t for Tottenham. I was there from the age of 11, and all the coaches who guided me during my time there, they helped me live my dream. So there’s no doubt that the journey I had with Tottenham, which had its ups and downs, led me to this moment tonight. So I want to thank the club for everything they did for me. I want to thank all the fans, the supporters of Bayern Munich, the fans of the national team, the fans of Tottenham, and all the fans around the world who support me, many of whom are in this room tonight. I appreciate the support you give me in the stadiums, on social media, everywhere. I remember that not long ago, I was just a fan myself, and I understand what it means to play for someone. It’s a privilege and an honor to be able to give something back to you. I want to send a special thank you to the coaches who have helped me throughout my career. And if I forget someone, I really apologize. I want to start from the very beginning. Bradley Allen, Chris Ramsey, John McDermott – who is here tonight – Alex Inglethorpe, Tim Sherwood, Ryan Mason – who is also here tonight and is one of my closest friends – Kenny Jackett, Russell Slade, Harry Redknapp, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, and Gareth Southgate. And of course, I want to thank the two coaches that I am working with right now, Vincent Kompany and Thomas Tuchel. I want to thank my family as well. I want to thank my wife, Kate. You are my best friend, and we have been through so much together. You support me like no one else does. You were waiting for this moment even more than I was, and I know it’s not easy to have that feeling of anticipation. But here it is, let’s celebrate it together. I want to thank my children, who are at home right now. I want to say to them that this award is for you. This award is very special, and I can’t wait to come home and celebrate with you. I want to thank my brother, Charlie, who is here tonight. I want to say to you, I appreciate everything you do for me. You are a great brother, and I cherish the fact that you support me unconditionally. And I want to thank my parents, they are also here tonight. It’s a great honor for me to have my parents in the room tonight. The support you have given me throughout the years, the sacrifices you have made for me, the fact that you have always believed in me and never pressured me to become a footballer, but it was always about giving your best and improving yourself every day. Those values that you instilled in me are the reason I am here tonight. I love you both. Thank you very much!
